Corn Ethanol Experience
Life Cycle Associates has examined all aspects of corn ethanol life cycle emissions. Our work ranges include the development of the early pathway documents for the Low Carbon Fuel Standards (LCFS) in 2009 to Land Use Change (LUC) modeling, as well as support of the European Renewable Energy Directive (EU RED) and Renewable Fuel Standard 2 (RFS2) pathway certifications. We develop off model corn ethanol calculators that emulate the CA_GREET model in order to perform efficient screening and disaggregation.
Our engineering experience also allows us to assess the effects of:
- Cogeneration
- DGS drying
- Ethanol dehydration
- CO2 capture
- Renewable Power
Corn Ethanol Clients
Our clients include leading corn ethanol producers and corn ethanol trade groups. We helped numerous ethanol producers develop fuel pathway applications under the California LCFS including pathway strategy review, data collection, CA_GREET calculation, negotiation and document preparation. We also assist clients with preparing petitions for capacity expansion under the RFS2 and evaluated issues with corn ethanol life cycle analysis for the Renewable Fuels Association (RFA) and other trade groups. In addition to our expertise with the CA LCFS, we have experience in the Washington State (WA) and Oregon (OR) regulations and fuel certification programs.
