Stefan Unnasch, Managing Director of Life Cycle Associates, will be leading a course for Sustainable Aviation Futures on Carbon Markets for Aviation and Aviation Fuels covering Carbon Reduction, Accounting and Reporting. The course provides industry leading expertise on the sustainable aviation landscape.
Stefan Unnasch is an expert in the Low Carbon Fuel Standard (LCFS) and has performed fuel cycle analysis since 1987. He has developed energy impact models for greenhouse gases, toxins, and pollutants in addition to leading the development of the California GREET model. Mr. Unnasch has also performed life cycle analyses for advanced biofuels developers for fuel pathways.
The course covers key topics for the industry, including:
- GHG reporting and verification in the aviation sector
- Carbon accounting and reporting, including Scope 1 and 3 emissions
- Regulatory requirements and roadblocks for SAF feedstock sustainability
- Measuring the carbon intensity of SAF
When: June 26-27, 2024

Although there are challenges with SAF, the opportunity to reduce greenhouse gases, increase energy security, and drive more stable aviation fuel prices is significant. Sustainable aviation fuel is produced from sustainable feedstocks that are blended with regular fuels at 10 to 50%.
In this discussion, Mr. Unnasch will talk about global SAF requirements, life cycle GHG emissions in aviation fuels, emission reduction strategies, and corporate carbon accounting. Learn more about Life Cycle Associates experience with Aviation Fuel Life Cycle Analysis.
